Man One was sponsored in May 2001 by information technology giant IBM to design and aerosol and acrylic paint a 6-foot long, 4 1/2-foot tall fiberglass shark sculpture for downtown San Jose, California. The August-October 2001 art exhibit, "SharkByte Art: A San Jose Art Experience. The unveiling of Man One's Man Eating Shark," was the focus of a press conference on May 3, 2001, where mayor Mayor Gonzales announced the upcoming event.
A larger than life mural in downtown L.A. was no small feat for even a muralist extraordinaire. Commissioned by Redwood City-based Electronic Arts, worldwide manufacturer of video game software, Man One transformed an old brick 17x32 wall located deep in the artistic center of urban downtown Los Angeles near Alameda Street into a work of art. The mural was used for the backdrop of Electronic Arts' summer 2001 video game national print ad campaign for NBA Street, the hip-hop over-the-top game for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system (PS2) released June 19, 2001.
In July 2001, Man One headed off across country to perform some of his best "live aerosol" for Vans extreme sports and concert promotional Warped Tour. Covering more than 30 cities in 30 days, Man One aerosol painted 8x18 murals for the urban street trend so many marketing experts are diving into. A second "live aerosol" event followed in August with the internationally known CaliforniaMart, the center of Los Angeles' fashion industry. Man One performed live aerosol for the August Holiday market event as part of the graffiti urban style trend and added his urban style to a runway fashion show in October.
That Winter, Man One was hired to design edgy urban sketches for a new emerging snowboard company based out of Vermont. The sketches were produced onto the boards as the company's high-end board series "Anthem" for Rome Snowboards premiering in August 2002. Vans brought Man One in for their film premiere DogTown and Z-Boys April 2002 event to perform live aerosol at The Block at Orange skate park, which was full of industry folks and die-hard skate fans. Man One produced a 5x11 mural with a DogTown theme design.
May 2002 began a whole new journey for Man One when he premiered his newest development-Crewest.com and Crewest Store and Gallery in Alhambra, California. Crewest is a company committed to the promotion of the best in underground art and culture. Its goal is to create lucrative opportunities for artists and allow their work to be seen and enjoyed at a professional level. Then in June 2002, Blue Milk Entertainment filmed the RoyGBiv TV pilot series profiling artists with Man One's "Life is Art. Create Your Future" 30x10 mural. They shot live footage of Man One producing the mural at a Los Angeles area school campus. August 2002 provided an opportunity to work with Travel & Leisure Magazine and Perry Ellis at a fashion industry private party performing live aerosol producing three 8x4 wood panels graffiti style for a 10-city tour stage.
Late April, Urb Magazine, in collaboration with Toyota's new urban Scion car, gathered national graff artists to paint a 12-inch model car for their national promotional tour. Man One's car appeared in exhibits in New York, San Francisco and San Diego.
Then there's the Matters in Juvenile Justice, Education, and Our Community Conference sponsored by the Youth Arts and Education/Cultural Affairs Department. Man One contributed his extensive views on the economic impact of graffiti art, urban expressions and comparable artistic genres. In the Summer 2004, Man One and seven other powerful artists designed a group show entitled "State Of The Union" for the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art which merged varied styles of multi-media under one roof.
In March 2006, Man One moved his Alhambra-based Crewest Gallery to the famed Gallery Row, Downtown L.A.s newest arts district. The grand opening marked a defining moment for Man One and his overall vision for alternative art.
