This year is a special year for Lowrider Arte as we are celebrating its twentieth year of publication. Many of the youngsters from the 90s that used to find their inspiration from flipping thru the pages of Lowrider Arte and dreamed of one day having their work published with us are now the new inspiration for today’s youth. Weather they realize it or not, today’s artists are paving the way for many of tomorrows artists. So stay positive, stay unique, keep hustling and keep inspiring.
This issue’s cover artist is Tony Ramirez of Ocean Front Tattoo in Venice Beach CA. I found Tony by peer chance as I was walking thru Venice Beach with my compadres Steve and Irma who were down visiting. His artwork which was hanging at the shop caught my eye from a distance. As I stepped into Ocean Front Tattoo shop I noticed that he had multiple art pieces hanging and was in the middle of another piece. We met, exchanged contact info and we ended setting up the cover shoot a short time later.
Viva Las Vegas! We rolled into the city of Sin to cover the BTSOE at the Mirage Resort and Casino. Pete Tapang from the Washington DC., area came out of retirement after he made a bet with a model and is now producing some great pinup art. We are also featuring David Lozeau of Vista, CA. David’s unique day of the dead artwork caught our eyes at the famous Ink-N-Iron Festival at the Queen Mary this year and we are please to finally be able to publish him in our pages.
