Aztec women are always depicted in Lowrider Arte. Here is a little bit of history about the Aztec woman

 

Aztec Women History

All the books written by Aztec and Spanish writers in the 16th century show us that men were the fighters in battle and there are the famous groups of warriors such as the Eagle and Jaguar Knights, all shown as men. But there is at least one bit of information that suggests that women did fight when times were desperate. In this story the authors wrote, 'the women of Tlatelolco joined in the fighting. They struck at the enemy and shot arrows at them; they tucked up their skirts and dressed in the regalia of war'. This described a time during the final attack of the Spanish. The Tlatelolcan people must have been in a terrible state with many people already dead including many warriors. The story shows just how desperate they were by saying even the women had to fight. That would make sense in such a grim situation

Where Aztec Women Ever Warriors?

It seems that they were. This was when women were giving birth. Writers in the 16th century tell us that the Aztecs thought the act of birth was like a battle. The new born child was described as a 'captive' and the mother as a warrior. This stresses how important fighting and capturing enemies were in Aztec society. In the Aztec empire as in the rest of world at the time, giving birth was dangerous to both the mother and newborn child. All too often, one, the other or both did not live. There was great joy and celebrations when there was a healthy newborn baby and well mother. When a mother died giving birth, she was said to be a warrior who died in battle...

Santana is said to be one of the best in Latin music.

With his harmonious sounds and his soulful spirit, Santana has the power to make anyone fall in love with the sounds of the Latin rhythm. He is said to be one of the greatest of all time. In your opinion, who do you feel is a great music influence upon Latin Music?

Now an accomplished artist in many mediums—airbrushing, sculpture, oil painting, computer art, etc.—Tony developed his artistic techniques without receiving any special artistic training. "No I never had any type of art classes," he says. "Everything I know was self-taught and learned through experience."

 The multi-talented Tony has developed his technique to the point where he’s creating some extraordinary works of art. "My work is of mixed media where contrast and color and texture are mixed to create special one-of-a-kind paintings," admits the artist. "My work can be admired by all people from your average person to an art critic."? Much of the significance of Tony’s works is derived from the artist’s ability to represent his life and culture on canvas. Asked about the symbolism in his art, Tony sums it up in one word, "Magic," before elaborating, "The feeling that you get to touch them when you’re staring at them. They welcome you into their world."

Tony’s appearance in Lowrider Arte Magazine is a welcome bit of exposure for the artist, who’s currently working out of  Southern California with illustrious plans for the future. "I want to be a trendsetting painter," he declares. "I want my artwork to be looked at by many and they will be able to tell that it was done by me, like they do with Rembrandt’s paintings."

But no matter how far Tony’s artistic talent takes him, he’s unlikely to forget his Mexican roots or what it took to get where he’s at today. "Over 27 years, I have realized that nothing is too far to reach," he says. "And if that’s just the dream of a kid, then let me be a kid who will always dream about becoming somebody with my art. I believe in people who dream that their dreams can come true with hard work and experience. My dream has always been to be a painter and now I have realized my dream. To all of the upcoming artists, I hope that my painting can inspire you and make you become better painters. Keep your head up and if someone tells you that your work is not good enough, work a little harder to make sure that you can show people what you can achieve."

The beautiful thing about art is that it has no limitations when it comes to style, look, feel and location. Art is just as beauty itself, is limitless in all of its parameters and, as always, beauty is within the eye of the beholder. But to take things one step further, art is better taken with a dose of education and this is where it really counts.

Behind any really great art piece or gallery is a story which adds value. Not once has there ever been a successful piece of art (or art collection) which has no interesting factual information and Chicano Park in San Diego, California, is no different.

We have to always remember today’s youth. Children always do things that they see their parent do. As a child whatever your parents seem to do, you would always want to do the same or better yet try to do it better. Having said that, check out the art of our future artist. These kids are definitely following in their parents footsteps

Tattoos are used to express many things. For instance some people get tattoos in order to remember a loved one, or some people get tattoos of historical figures that made a certain impact upon there lives. Whichever tattoo that a person gets, it always represents something that has meaning as well as relevance.

Therefore this year Mega Productions Body Art Expo in Pomona, California, was a great turn out for the ink fanatics. With the raspy sounds of the tattoo guns going off every couple of feet, the success of the show was definitely worth the pin and the needles. Fans of Chicano rap were also treated to a surprise celebrity appearance by Lil’ Rob, who stopped by to get inked by Jose Lopez from Lowrider Tattoo. As the crowds gathered and word spread, all eyes turned to Jose as he worked his magic on Lil Rob.
